Dheya Framework

7D 7D Mentoring Journey

A seven-stage structured mentoring framework — Discover, Direction, Dream, Desire and Drive, Design, Develop, Destination — that adapts to the client's life stage.

  1. D1
    Discover
    Self-awareness via RAPD and inventories.
  2. D2
    Direction
Narrow the field; identify viable career paths.
  3. D3
    Dream
Set a vision anchored to qualities and possibilities.
  4. D4
    Desire and Drive
Build motivation and commitment to act.
  5. D5
    Design
    Plan education, skills, and milestones.
  6. D6
    Develop
    Execute the plan; build competence.
  7. D7
    Destination
Land the outcome and measure alignment.

Why it exists

Career journeys fail when they skip stages. A client who jumps from Discover straight to Develop ends up with skills that do not serve their qualities. The 7D Journey enforces sequence — each stage has a milestone gate, and no stage is skipped. The framework adapts to the client's life stage (school, college, early, mid, or late career), but the sequence is invariant.

How it works

  • D1 Discover — administer RAPD, map qualities.
  • D2 Direction — shortlist viable paths via Tri-Fit.
  • D3 Dream — anchor aspirations (the A in QPA).
  • D4 Desire and Drive — convert dream into motivation; this is the stage most DIY plans skip.
  • D5 Design — plan education, skills, and timeline.
  • D6 Develop — execute with mentor support.
  • D7 Destination — measure arrival and alignment quality; feeds CLIQI.

What you get

  • A stage-gated mentoring plan aligned to the seven Ds.
  • Milestone reviews at each stage transition.
  • A certified mentor who adapts depth and pace to your life stage.

How it integrates with Dheya's other frameworks

The 7D Journey is the operating system. RAPD runs inside D1, Tri-Fit runs inside D2, QPA spans D1–D3, BBD is a diagnostic entry point for mid-career clients arriving at D1, and CLIQI measures D7 outcomes longitudinally.

Validity & evidence

The 7D sequence is drawn from 18 years of mentor case-file analysis across school, college, early-career, mid-career, and late-career clients. Stage-gate completion rates correlate with post-programme alignment scores tracked via CLIQI.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip stages?
No. Skipping D4 Desire and Drive is the most common cause of stalled career plans — a clear design without the desire to execute produces a shelved plan. The mentor will refuse to advance a client through a stage gate until the current stage is genuinely complete.
How long does the 7D Journey take?
Between six months and two years depending on life stage. School students typically complete D1–D5 in one programme and return for D6–D7. Mid-career pivots often spend longer in D1 and D4.
What happens at D7 Destination?
D7 is the arrival checkpoint — the client measures outcome against the D3 Dream, reflects on alignment quality, and the mentor closes the file with a CLIQI measurement. Many clients re-enter at D1 for the next life stage.
Does the 7D Journey apply to working professionals?
Yes — the sequence is invariant across life stages. A mid-career professional arriving with BBD Syndrome enters at D1 Discover and proceeds through all seven stages, with content weighted toward pivot planning rather than first-career choice.
How is progress measured between stages?
Each stage has a milestone gate with specific deliverables — a completed RAPD debrief for D1, a Tri-Fit shortlist for D2, a written aspiration statement for D3, and so on. The mentor signs off on each gate.
